Political, Legal, and Regulatory Environments

Political Environment: Ireland is a parliamentary representative democratic republic. While there are a number of important political parties in the state, the political landscape is dominated by Fianna Fáil and Fine Gail, historically opposed and competing entities, though both occupy the traditional centre ground. The state is a member of the European Union. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in the Oireachtas, the bicameral national parliament, which consists of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.

Legal Environment: Ireland's legal system is based on English common law substantially modified by indigenous concepts; judicial review of legislative acts in Supreme Court; has not accepted compulsory ICJ jurisdiction.

Regulatory Environment: The most wel known regulations in Ireland are The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006, The Landfill Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003, and Welfare of Farmed Animals Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000 as well as numerous regulations on imports and exports.

  1. I'm doing my blog about Sweden so I think we're in the same area. Sweden also pased a law in favor of equality for people who have a different sexual orientation. I Think Europe is more liberal than the United States.
